Privacy policy

Last updated 1 September 2026. Applies to the BetterSave iOS app and this website.

BetterSave has no accounts and no analytics. Your library lives on your iPhone. This page lists everything the app stores and every request it makes, so you can check the claim.

What BetterSave stores on your phone

• The posts you keep: the link, caption, author name, post date, the downloaded video or photos, a thumbnail, and the song if one was identified.
• Your tags and notes.
• A History list of posts you kept or saved to Photos.
• A count of free actions used and whether BetterSave Pro is active.

All of this is inside the app's private storage (an App Group container shared with the share extension). It is included in your device backups. Deleting the app deletes it.

What leaves your phone

• Requests to Instagram. When you keep or preview a post, the app fetches that post's public page and media from instagram.com, the same requests a web browser would make while logged out. Instagram sees your IP address and the post you requested. BetterSave does not send Instagram anything about you and does not use your Instagram account.
• Shazam. To name a song, BetterSave sends a short audio fingerprint (not the audio itself) from the saved video to Apple's ShazamKit service. Apple's privacy policy covers that request. Nothing about you is attached to it.
• App Store purchases. BetterSave Pro is sold through Apple's in-app purchase system. Apple handles payment and keeps the purchase record; BetterSave only learns whether a purchase is active.
• Photos. Save to Photos writes files into your Photos library using add-only permission. BetterSave cannot read your existing photos.

That is the full list. There are no analytics, crash reporters, advertising identifiers or third-party SDKs in the app.

What we can see

Nothing about your library. We do not run a server that the app talks to. If you email us for support, we see what you send us and use it only to reply.

This website

The site is static files. It sets no cookies and loads no third-party scripts. Your hosting provider may keep standard server logs (IP address, time, page requested) for a short period.

Children

BetterSave is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from them. It carries an App Store age rating that reflects the content it can display from Instagram.

Your choices

• Delete any post, tag or note inside the app.
• Delete the app to remove everything.
• Manage or cancel BetterSave Pro in Settings ▸ Apple Account ▸ Subscriptions.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it and the new text appears here.
